For three days, Gdańsk will be a place full of inspiration, lectures, workshops, and exhibitions, presenting the latest materials and techniques in natural building. The festival will be held at a prestigious location – the Great Armory at the Academy of Fine Arts, which is a partner of the event.

The latest publication by Dr. Katarzyna Darecka focuses on Gdańsk's doors and gates. This richly illustrated monograph is based on many years of research into the historic Gdańsk carpentry, its construction, decoration, and color schemes.

The event will take place on November 14, 2024 (Thursday), from 5 PM to 6 PM, at the Uphagen's House on 12 Długa Street.

The defense will take place on November 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the conference room of the Hydromechanics building (Building No. 11). The title of the dissertation is: „Prussian coastal fortifications from 1815-1914 in the area of the present Poland. Spatial forms, transformations and conservation issues”. The supervisor of the dissertation is Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. Arch. Robert Hirsch, Professor at Gdańsk Tech.

The inaugural speech was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Professor Jakub Szczepański, who presented the Faculty's activities and successes over the past few years. It was also an opportunity to outline the ambitious plans the Faculty will face in the nearest future. After the speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, we had the chance to listen the speech of the Vice-Rector for Cooperation, Professor Józef Sienkiewicz.

The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Main Building of Gdańsk University of Technology on 22^th of October 2024, at 10:15 AM.

A group of our students (urban planners) from the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning under the coordination of doctoral student Bahaa Bou Kalfouni and with the support of Professor Karolina Krosnicka participated in the Summer School of the Union of Mediterranean Architects (UMAR) - a two-week workshop program which is also a design competition entitled “Revitalizing the Port Gaza: Water as a Catalyst” was held at the German University in Amman - Jor
