With great sorrow, we inform about passing of Danuta Olędzka

Danuta Olędzka

Mrs. Danuta Olędzka was associated with TriCity for most of her life. In 1952, she obtained a Master's degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology. From 1952 to 1965, she worked as an assistant at the Department of Utility and Industrial Construction at our Faculty. The following year, she began working as a designer at the Gdańsk Office of General Construction Design, where she worked until 1982.

Prof. Maria Jolanta Sołtysik

Professor Maria Jolanta Sołtysik has received the Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski Medal "For Outstanding Contributions to Gdynia." An architect associated with the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology, she contributed to the promotion of Gdynia’s architecture and urban planning in Poland and Europe. She created the theoretical foundations for the protection of modernist heritage in Gdynia.

Awards for the Competition for the Development of Długie Ogrody Street
On Friday, March 14, 2025, the results of the prestigious competition for the development concept of Długie Ogrody Street in Gdańsk were announced – the widest and one of the longest streets in the city center. The competition received 20 highly qualified entries from Austria, France, Italy, and Poland.

-We announced this competition with the goal of obtaining a high-quality architectural and urban concept for the reconstruction of Długie Ogrody Street, which will allow for the extension of the Royal Route as a representative public space- said Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, the Mayor of Gdańsk. The competition was organized by the Gdańsk Road and Greenery Management Board. The resolution of the competition was not an easy task. 12 qualified specialists debated for hours to select the winners.

Scholarships for Cultural Creators for Researchers from the Faculty of Architecture

Among the 365 applications submitted to the Department of Culture of the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, two projects by female researchers from the Faculty of Architecture were awarded the 2025 Cultural Creators Scholarship of the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship (UMWP).

Results of Student Architectural and Urban Planning Competitions announced
On March 6th, the results of three architectural and urban design competitions for students of the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology were announced in the Main Building of the university.

These were the latest competitions organized by the City of Gdańsk in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture. Present at the announcement were representatives from the city: Emilia Lodzińska, Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk for spatial development and housing, and the architect of the City of Gdańsk, Prof. Piotr Lorens. Gdańsk University of Technology was represented by the Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, and the Vice-Dean for Education and Studies Programmes, Ph.D., D.Sc. Eng. Arch. Magdalena Podwojewska.

Exhibition - Sketches on the Square

The exhibition presents the results of international design workshops on urban composition carried out as part of the Urban Design I course in the third semester of full-time studies in English at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdańsk University of Technology, under the guidance of PhD., Eng., Arch. Gabriela Rembarz and MSc., Eng., Arch. Urszula Cryer.

Our doctoral student and his team wins international architectural and planning competition

Our doctoral student and his team during concept discussion
We are proud to announce that Bahaa Bou Kalfouni, a doctoral student from our Faculty of Architecture, and his team from Palestine and Jordan, won first place in an international architectural and planning competition organized by the Union of Mediterranean Architects (UMAR).

The competition, titled “The Revival of Gaza Seaport: Water as a Catalyzer” was part of a summer school held in Amman, Jordan. This event provided a platform for emerging architects and planners from across the Mediterranean region to showcase their talents, gain exposure, and engage with their communities, all within the context of a Mediterranean agenda and knowledge exchange.
