Shelter prototypes built by our students seeking answers to global crisis

Our fourth-semester architecture students were challenged to build 4 temporary shelters in 10 hours that would serve in a given crisis. Each project has its own unique story, spirit, and innovation.

The students acknowledged that they feel deeply involved in humanitarian crises on a global scale and complex issues around the globe, which encouraged them to take responsibility towards humanity and realize the power of architecture noting how architecture can truly be a powerful tool in serving populations in the midst of poverty and crisis.

Polish and Ukrainian Architects Conference: "Reconstruction-Transformations-Renovations"

The Faculty of Architecture is delighted to announce the upcoming conference on "Reconstruction-Transformations-Renovations" organized jointly by Polish and Ukrainian architects. This event, titled "Architects for the Reconstruction of Ukraine," will take place on May 16-17 2023.

Accompanying the conference, there will be an exhibition titled "Peace and War: Architecture of Ukraine." The exhibition will be formally concluded in the presence of the esteemed Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde.

We invite you for a reflection - The role of architects and planners in humanitarian crisis

students' project presentation
A group of 16 students from the Faculty of Architecture will construct prototypes of temporary shelters on the grounds of the Ethnographic Branch of the National Museum in Gdansk.

On May 17-18 from 9:15 a.m. to 4/5 p.m. students of architecture will build prototypes of shelters as part of the "Shelter - Learning by Doing" project. The project aims to demonstrate young architects' creative approach to building temporary shelters in response to global humanitarian issues.

Architecture Competition Children's House in Africa

Kaira Looro Architecture Competition is a design contest open to students and young architects with aims to discover new talents and to adopt sustainable architecture models for humanitarian purpose to improve life conditions in developing countries. Cash prizes, Internship and construction are provided for winners, selected by an international jury made up of pregistous architectural firms. The challenge of 2022's edition is to design a ‘Children’s House’ in Senegal, as a warm and welcoming place where activities aimed at preventing child malnutrition can be carried out in a rural environment. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow; allowing them to develop properly is essential in order to build a better future.
