Exhibition - Sketches on the Square

The exhibition presents the results of international design workshops on urban composition carried out as part of the Urban Design I course in the third semester of full-time studies in English at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdańsk University of Technology, under the guidance of PhD., Eng., Arch. Gabriela Rembarz and MSc., Eng., Arch. Urszula Cryer.

Our doctoral student and his team wins international architectural and planning competition

Our doctoral student and his team during concept discussion
We are proud to announce that Bahaa Bou Kalfouni, a doctoral student from our Faculty of Architecture, and his team from Palestine and Jordan, won first place in an international architectural and planning competition organized by the Union of Mediterranean Architects (UMAR).

The competition, titled “The Revival of Gaza Seaport: Water as a Catalyzer” was part of a summer school held in Amman, Jordan. This event provided a platform for emerging architects and planners from across the Mediterranean region to showcase their talents, gain exposure, and engage with their communities, all within the context of a Mediterranean agenda and knowledge exchange.

Prof. Dorota Kamrowska-Załuska granted the Award of Ministry of Science and Higher Education

Dorota Kamrowska-Załuska
PhD., DSc., Eng. Arch. Dorota Kamrowska-Załuska, Professor at Gdańsk Tech, received the award from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for significant achievements in scientific activities. The awards were presented during the Polish Science Gala at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

This year, 20 awards were given for overall achievements, 33 awards for significant achievements in scientific activities, 4 awards for significant achievements in teaching activities, 6 awards for significant achievements in implementation activities, and 2 awards for significant achievements in organizational activities. A total of 150 people were distinguished.

Summary of the Regional Planning Workshops

Regional Planning workshops
On January 29, 2025, Professor Barbara Wikieł – Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, and Professor Karolina Krośnicka – Vice-Dean for Scientific Research at the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology, took part in the summary of the planning workshop cycle regarding the development vision of the Pomeranian Voivodeship until 2050. The event was organized by the Pomeranian Regional Planning Office at the seat of the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Gdańsk.

Participants in the workshop cycle were students from the Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdańsk Medical University, University of Gdańsk, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Gdynia Maritime University, the University High School in Gdańsk, and the County School Complex No. 2 named after the Heroic Crew of ORP Orzeł in Wejherowo. The student meetings took place at each of the three universities involved in the Union of Universities in Gdańsk named after Daniel Fahrenheit.

Eco-Innovation Center at Gdansk Tech
On January 21, 2025, Prof. Dsc. PhD. Eng. Arch. Antoni Taraszkiewicz, the chief designer of the Eco-Innovation Center at WILiŚ, delivered a lecture on the newly constructed building located in the heart of the Gdańsk University of Technology campus.

As part of the "Building Systems for Architects" course, students from the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology visited the building, learning about the concept behind its creation and the technologies used in its construction.
