City Council Session in Gniew with Faculty Dean's Participation | The Faculty of Architecture at the Gdańsk University of Technology

On 28^th of May 2025, at the invitation of the Mayor of the City of Gniew – Maciej Czarnecki – the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Professor Jakub Szczepański, took part in a ceremonial Session of the City Council in Gniew, held to celebrate the 35th anniversary of local self-government. During the session, Professor Szczepański spoke about the collaboration between the Faculty and the Municipality of Gniew and, together with Szymon Kowalski, presented a three-dimensional model of the historical city center.

The model was created using 3D printing technology, based on data obtained from photogrammetric aerial surveys. The project was carried out at the Faculty of Architecture by Szymon Kowalski and Paulina Bone from the Laboratory of Digitization and Visualization of Architecture. Nearly 3,000 photos were taken during the fieldwork using DJI Mavic 3 and DJI Mini 3 drones. Based on the collected materials, a digital 3D model was developed and printed using FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology on 3D printers.

The model will serve both educational and promotional purposes, representing a unique example of how modern technologies can support cultural heritage.
