Master Programme in Spatial Development (taught in Polish)
Specialization: Integrated coastal zone management

We deliver comprehensive planning education at the Masters's level, with a particular focus on cities, their territorial environment, and their transformation. Our approach is design-oriented with a solid theoretical background. The issues of urban, regional, and transboundary planning, strategic planning, urban regeneration, new planning tools are also included in the program.

We run the entire program in Polish (3 semesters, 90 ECTS). Our full-time program, which starts in the summer semester, is open to students who graduated at the first level in Architecture, Urbanism, Spatial Planning, Urban Studies, Human Geography, and any other similar program that offers knowledge on territorial issues at different scales. The students can hold any citizenship (including Polish).

The process of planning in coastal zones requires interdisciplinary knowledge, concerning spatial problems, appearing in both land and water areas, sustainable use of marine and coastal resources, as well as skills in using smart technologies and acquiring data on maritime space. Specialization in Integrated coastal zone management teaches how to find the optimal three-dimensional functional solutions, taking into account the variability in time and the acceptance of all stakeholders. Therefore, the course enables us to understand principles of formation of spatial land-sea interface (including port areas, industrial structures related to the maritime economy, waterfronts, natural and semi-natural ecosystems, landscapes at the interface between land and water). This type of specialization related to the management of coastal zones is currently not implemented at any Polish university yet.

Our graduates are prepared to work in planning offices and agencies, both public and private, across Poland and other European countries and beyond (eg. the US), public administrations at every level (local, regional, national and European); they can advise investment banks, developers, local communities and civic society organization; they are able to act as experts in consulting and development companies; they are also prepared to work for the EU institutions.

More about this specialization can be found on the Polish version of our website.
