The Department continues traditoins of four generations of architecture historians and conservators working continuously from 1945 year. The reasearch conducted by academic staff of the Department in focused on architectural geritage of Gdańsk, Gdynia and broadly Baltic region which is conducive to the development of an interdisciplinary research workshop combining traditional and modern skills of an architect and related disciplines (conservation, history, archaeology). Expirience in those works results in memebership of the Department in international and national associations - e.g.: ICOMOS, DOCOCOMO, SKZ, IARP, SARP.
The department conducts obligatory and facultative subjects within framework on Architecture Studies curriculum - including diploma theses focused on practical solutions of conservation problems.
