Department's staff conducts scientific research in few main fields. Prof. Maria Sołtysik, prof. Jakub Szczepański, prof. Robert Hirsch, PhD Anna Orchowska-Smolińska currently focus mainly on issues related to modern architecture as well as protection of XX century architecture heritage's protection. This fields are supported by PhD Bartosz Macikowski, PhD Agnieszka Szuta and PhD candidate Weronika Szerle.
The subject of previous centuries (middle ages and early modern period) and related to them research methods (architectural, historic etc) are a subjects of interest of prof. Aleksander Piwek, prof. Grzegorz Bukal and PhD Piotr Samól. Prof. Jakub Szczepański, prof. Robert Hirsch as well as PhD candidates: MSc Szymon Kowalski or MSc Arkadiusz Woźniakowski happen to join in chosen research projects.
What's more Department's staff, due to unique combination of theoritical knowlegde and design practice, joins a broad disccussion on theory, doctrines and conservation practice. Within framework of Doctoral School there is a possibility to undertake in the Department a subject of dissertation focused on detailed theory of conservation, heritage protection, architectural research or history of architecture.
