About the Project

The grant is being implemented as part of the Aurum programme. As a result of the grant, a research group - SUP&ER - Solar Urban Performance and EneRgy efficiecy - will be set up. The aim of the project is to establish a new research group and bring together research teams from the two continents of Europe and South America. The research will be carried out in an interdisciplinary team combining urban planning, lighting and energy efficiency. This linking of topics is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and presents current issues highlighted in research. Selected urban complexes that meet the criteria of the sustainable development paradigm will be the subject of research. The project is planned to start at the beginning of June 2023. The work schedule proposed in the project allows for knowledge transfer in key areas concerning the building of the new laboratory, as well as research topics based on international cooperation with other centres and commissions (CIE, IEA, CEN).

Objectives
  1. To establish collaboration with two teams from the University of Brasilia and Lund University (as an expert) and on this basis further networking
  2. To build a state-of-the-art Light Living Lab at WAPG to study the conditions of the built environment with expert assistance and support from partners
  3. Conducting pilot research in the area of issues related to the design of energy-efficient buildings and investigating the impact of natural lighting on the shaping of the built environment
  4. Design of research in a new research team for the next years of the research group based on the newly established laboratory
