Fahrenheit / Heweliusz | The Faculty of Architecture at the Gdańsk University of Technology

Results of the competition for spatial forms located in front of the Main Building of Gdańsk University of Technology.

The prizes were funded by the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde.

The themes of the competition task were the creative interpretation of Fahrenheit's thermometer and Heweliusz's periscope (Polemoscope). The initiators of the competition were the Deans of the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology, Prof. Lucyna Nyka, and Prof. Jakub Szczepański.
The competition was carried out as part of the Site-Specific Project classes for the master's degree students of the Faculty of Architecture, led by Prof. Krzysztof Wróblewski with MSc. Łukasz Ławrynowicz and MSc. Paweł Sasin.

The competition task was also conducted in the Spatial Design and Organization Studio classes led by Prof. Robert Kaja with MSc. Daniel Sobański and MSc. Sylwia Aniszewska at the Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedia of the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts.

The competition committee awarded four equal prizes for:

• Project MERCURIALIS / Fahrenheit. Authors: Julia Pawełek, Sebastian Skrzypkowski, Justyna Wesołowska, Olga Zawistowska from the Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology. Designated for 1:1 scale implementation on the Gdańsk University of Technology campus.
• Project POLEMOSKOP / Heweliusz. Author: Max Rydzyński from the Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedia, Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts. Designated for 1:1 scale implementation on the Gdańsk University of Technology campus.
• Project FAHRENHEIT. Author: Zuzanna Kobiela. Designated for potential 1:1 scale implementation on the Gdańsk University of Technology campus and on a commemorative coin.
• Project HEWELIUSZ. Author: Laura Omernik. Designated for implementation on a commemorative coin.

The committee awarded two equal honorable mentions for:

• Project PRZEZ PRZESTRZEŃ / Heweliusz. Authors: Alicja Aydar, Natalia Mikołajczyk, Kamila Wicińska from the Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology.
• Project PERYSKOP HEWELIUSZA. Authors: Nastassia Blazheyeuskaya, Sara Gorczyńska from the Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology.
