TU Berlin invites students and PhD students to participate in the summer school titled "Plotting Sustainability - ENHANCE summer school on power struggles in the city", which will take place in a hybrid format from May 27 to July 1 (online part) and July 15-19 (on-site part in Berlin). Funding from the Erasmus+ program is available for the trip.

In 2022, Gdańsk University of Technology joined the ENHANCE Alliance - a consortium of 10 European technical universities from Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and Poland (besides PG, the Polish members of the Alliance include also Warsaw University of Technology). Alliance members jointly create a so-called European University. What does this mean for students, PhD students, and employees of PG? Among other things, the opportunity to travel for studies, internships, summer and winter schools, trainings, and other events to partner universities. The next such event, this time aimed at students and PhD students, will be the summer school organized by TU Berlin.

About the summer school:
The theme of the summer school organized by TU Berlin is broadly understood sustainable development. Participants of the event - students and PhD students from all over Europe - will discuss the relationship between technology, science, the individual, society, and democracy. Classes, both online and on-site, will have a highly interactive character - there will be few lectures, but a lot of project work in smaller and larger international teams. By participating in the summer school, participants will better understand the interdependencies between the social, economic, political, and ecological environment and thus have a greater impact on processes occurring in the contemporary world.

If the summer school were to be described in the form of #: #Power-Relations-Society-Nature #IntegrationofArtsandSciences #InterventionalResearch #Democratization #Socio-EcologicalTransformation

Organizer:
TU Berlin (one of the best technical universities in Germany).

Dates:
Online part: Monday, May 17 and Monday, July 1, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. On-site part (in Berlin): July 15-19, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Participation in both the online and on-site parts is mandatory to complete the summer school and receive ECTS points.

Venue:
Online part: Zoom platform* On-site part: TU Berlin

  • Participation online requires access to a camera and microphone - the event assumes active participation of participants in discussions.

Who can participate?
Bachelor's and master's students, as well as PhD students, with a maximum of 10 people from Gdańsk University of Technology eligible for Erasmus+ funding for the trip. Organizers invite students and PhD students from various fields of study (not necessarily directly related to sustainable development). The summer school will be attended by people from universities belonging to the ENHANCE Alliance, including NTNU (Norway), Chalmers University (Sweden), TU Berlin and RWTH Aachen (Germany), TU Delft (the Netherlands), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), UPV (Spain), and other universities from all over Europe.

ECTS points:
Participants can receive ECTS points for participating in the summer school (condition: participation in the on-site and online parts + high attendance).

Language:
All classes, both online and on-site, will be conducted in English. For most participants, English will not be their first language (participants will come from various European countries), so there is no need to worry if your English is not perfect. The most important thing is to dare to speak English 😉

Financial matters:
Participation in the summer school is free of charge (there is no registration fee). As for the on-site part in Berlin, participants are responsible for covering travel, accommodation, and partially meals costs. However, Erasmus+ funding from Gdańsk University of Technology is available for the trip. Such funding amounts to 70 euros per day (i.e., 5 days x 70 euros = 350 euros). Participants who choose green forms of transportation to and from Berlin (train, bus, carpooling) will be eligible for additional funds.

Registration:
Stage I: Fill out this registration form - you have time until May 8 at 12:00 PM. Stage II: Analysis of registration forms by departments - from May 8 to May 9. Stage III: Students who are qualified to participate in the event by the departments will receive email confirmations no later than May 10 and must fill out a form prepared by the event organizer, TU Berlin, by May 12 (the link to the form will be sent in the confirmation email).
