The course presents contemporary issues in building engineering related to design, execution of buildings and structures, development of a construction project and details. Students are encouraged to develop environmentally friendly solutions and use modern building technologies, structures and materials. The course initiates discussion on how to bring an original concept to the implementation phase by exploring the design process from concept to completion.
The course covers: basic types of building structures, divisions, definitions; pre-design work; construction design; selected issues of fire safety regulations; finishing works in a broad sense; building elements such as stairs, facade systems and claddings, glazed walls, curtain walls, suspended ceilings, floors and flooring etc.
