Issue 5/2025 of A&B is now available for free download!

From the Editors:

We're bringing you a beautiful, green issue for May, all about ECOLOGY in architecture.

This issue of A&B is truly special — we’ve gathered the best projects, the best authors, and the best designers to explore the theme of green-blue infrastructure.

We’ll be present at the Polish Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia. The exhibition in the national pavilion organized by Zachęta National Gallery of Art, is about creating a sense of safety in architecture. The authors of the project reflect on question whether architecture has proper tools to create safe reality.

In this issue, you’ll find, among other things:

  • A (condensed) report on urban cooling, developed by a team of outstanding experts published by the Center for Public Policy at the Cracow University of Economics

  • Ecological strategies in cities in Poland and around the world (by Magdalena Milert (Pieing))

  • Urban ecosystems (by Marta Promińska and Agnieszka Kalinowska-Sołtys)

  • Green policy (an interview with Joanna Rayss, conducted by Marta Kulawik)

  • Engaged architecture (a conversation with architects from KWK PROMES, interviewed by Małgorzata Tomczak)

  • Microforests (interview with Kacper Jakubowski by Ewa Karendys)

  • The "One Element Project" (written by Wojciech Januszczyk)

  • Articles by Kuba Głaz and Jakub Szczęsny

  • Why We Need Architecture by ROCKWOOL – interviews with architects, building presentations, student scientific clubs, and technical details about wall construction

  • A conversation with the creators of the “Lary i Penaty" (eng. Lares and Penates) exhibition in the Polish Pavilion at the Biennale in Venice — Maciej Siuda, Aleksandra Kędziorek, Katarzyna Przezwańska, and Krzysztof Maniak

  • The Polish Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale — origins, history, and significance

  • Experience it once again - a summary of the Open Architectural Studios Festival (FOPA) 2025

  • A column on Liu Jiakun, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize

  • An interview with Tsuyoshi Tane, an outstanding Japanese architect
