Research areas in the Faculty of Architecture

Research is of central importance to all our activities at the Faculty of Architecture. It gives us a sound background to teaching. It keeps us capable of responding to emerging challenges both in the local and global scale. Our research makes us able to propose creative solutions for our changing cities, develop responsible architectural concepts and urban strategies that answer ecological, social and cultural demands. Taking advantage of technological advancements makes us capable of developing innovative solutions for architectural engineering developing new approaches to the architectural heritage and work on creative re-use of buildings. In our research projects we work in multidisciplinary international teams and actively collaborate with research agendas of such organisations as UNESCO, ICOMOS, DOCOMOMO, EAAE, AESOP, ISOCARP, and several other research centres worldwide. In 2017 The European Commission awarded Gdańsk University of Technology with HR – Excellence in Research logo.
